What lands at 7am
One page, not a wall of text. In this order:
Today's meetings, each with a two-line prep note pulled from the invite and the email thread
Your three priorities for the day, checked against your objectives, not against whoever emailed loudest
Clashes and overlaps in the diary
Promises due: anything you've told someone you'll do this week
Decisions waiting: the emails that need you, one line each. Not the ones that need deleting.
The first twenty minutes of most people's day go on working out what the day is. This does that part before the kettle's boiled.
Running by tomorrow in six steps
Have Claude Cowork set up with a project. You need the Claude desktop app, a project, and that project pointed at one folder on your computer. If that isn't done yet, the Starter Pack walks you through it: tuitiv.ai/free/setup.
Switch off two privacy settings first. Settings, then Privacy: "Help improve our AI models" off, "Location metadata" off. Grey, not blue. You're about to connect your inbox, so do this before, not after.
Connect your calendar and your email. Settings, then Connectors. Google Calendar and Gmail, or the Microsoft equivalents. These two only: they already hold this information, so you're not handing it to anyone new.
Give it your objectives. Three things you're working on this quarter, saved as a short file called objectives.md in the project folder. This is what stops the brief ranking your day by volume. Prompt 02 writes it with you in five minutes.
Run the prompt once by hand. Open a new task in the project, paste prompt 01, and read what comes back. Change anything you don't like now, while it's in front of you.
Schedule it. In the project, open Scheduled tasks, create a new task, set it to weekdays at 7am, paste the prompt, save. Tomorrow it's waiting for you.
The prompts
Prompt 01 is the brief. The other three make it better.
01 · THE BRIEF
The morning briefing
Paste this into the scheduled task. It reads, sorts, and builds one page.
Every weekday at 7am, build my morning briefing.
Read: today's calendar, and every email that arrived in the last 24 hours (skip newsletters, receipts and anything automated).
Give me, in this order:
1. Today's meetings, each with a two-line prep note drawn from the calendar invite and any related email.
2. My top three priorities for today, checked against objectives.md, not against whatever arrived loudest.
3. Any clashes or overlaps in the diary.
4. Anything I've promised someone that's due this week (look for "I'll send", "by Friday", "next week" in my sent mail).
5. The emails that need a decision from me, one line each on what's being asked. Not the ones that just need deleting.
Keep it to one page. Build it as an HTML page I can open in my browser, laid out like the front page of a morning newspaper: masthead with the date, columns, the diary in a small box top right.
Save it to my Outputs folder as briefing-YYYY-MM-DD.html. Never reply to, send or delete any email.
02 · SET-UP
Write your objectives file
Run once. It interviews you and saves the file the brief checks your priorities against.
Interview me, one question at a time, to write my objectives file.
Ask what I'm working on this quarter, why each thing matters, and what "done" looks like by the end of the quarter. Stop at three objectives. If I give you more, make me choose.
Then save it as objectives.md in this project folder: one heading per objective, one line on why it matters, one line on what done looks like.
03 · SUNDAYS
The week-ahead version
Same idea, run on Sunday at 6pm, looking at the whole week.
Every Sunday at 6pm, read my calendar for the coming week and objectives.md.
Give me:
1. The three outcomes that matter most this week, and why.
2. Any day that's overloaded, and what to move.
3. The meetings I should prepare for, and what to prepare.
4. Anything I've promised someone that falls due this week.
5. One thing I've been avoiding that would take under an hour.
One page. Save it to my Outputs folder as week-ahead-YYYY-MM-DD.html.
04 · AFTER A WEEK
Tune it
Run after five briefings. It cuts what you skip and keeps what you read.
Ask me which sections of my morning briefing I actually read and which I skip, and what I wished it had told me this week.
Then read the last five briefings in my Outputs folder, look for anything that repeats without changing, and rewrite the briefing prompt: keep what I read, cut what I skip, add what I said was missing.
Make it shorter, not longer. Show me the new prompt so I can paste it into the scheduled task.
Open Scheduled tasks and check the task's history. The usual reason is the laptop was asleep or the Claude app was closed at 7am. Leave the app open overnight, or move the task to a time your computer is reliably on.
My priorities are wrong
It's ranking by what's in your inbox because it doesn't know what matters to you. Check objectives.md is in the project folder and still current. Run prompt 02 again at the start of each quarter.
It's too long
Add to prompt 01: "No more than 200 words of text in total. If it doesn't fit, it wasn't important."
It's missing meetings or emails
Check both connectors are still connected in Settings. If you use more than one calendar, name them in the prompt.
Is it safe to let it read my email?
It reads; it doesn't send. The prompt tells it never to reply, send or delete anything. Keep "Help improve our AI models" off, and don't connect anything beyond your email and calendar for this.
What next
Prompts are the first layer. The system is the point.
Three ways to go further, depending on where you are.
